Living the dream
I always wanted to live a more sustainable life. At age 70+, I decided to make it a reality. I bought 10 acres in Craig Colorado. I'd never been here before but it is an awesome community. The property came with a house, barn and shed.
After -32 degrees and a crazy 4 feet of snow that stayed all winter, I started with chickens and a garden. Then I discovered mini cows. These cows were locally raised and are hardy, friendly miniature beef cattle. They fit perfectly on smaller acreages. Because of their temperament and small size, they are easy to care for.
I've started with 3 heifers. First calf is due in the next few weeks. A boy will be named "Sir Loin" though he might need a new home to follow through with his name. A girl will likely be for sale in the late fall 2024. My plan is to have 3-4 calves for sale each late fall.
